Violent Saudi-backed Egypt Junta Massacres Many Muslim Brotherhood Protestors

Al Jazeera threat letter in Egypt

Twitter / RawyaRageh: Threatening leaflets dropped off at Al Jazeera headquarters in Cairo.

The military coup which supposedly was beloved and supported by ‘the people’ in Egypt turns out to be highly unpopular.  Not only did it depose a democratically elected President, it arrested all the party leaders and planned to accuse them of–get this—killing demonstrators!  To bring this illicit ‘justice’ the junta has been busy butchering hundreds of protestors.  So, can we arrest them, too?

Morsi was actually quite gentle with the protestors and was taken entirely by surprise when the military suddenly issued an ultimatum that he surrender his office with zero legal charges.  He quite correctly refused.  So the military moved in classic South American puppet regime style, thus the legal term for this is a Spanish word, to seize control of the government and suspend the Constitution and the rule of law and replace this with a dictatorial regime.  So, furious at this illegal move, the Muslim Brotherhood called for mass protests.

Morsi backers call for uprising after shooting is the neutral Washington Post headline when over 54 people unarmed Muslims in a peaceful sit in were attacked by the military coup.  No shrieking headlines.  This is true of Syria and Libya, too.  The crimes, depravity and horrors of insurrectionists supported by the US and Israel barely make the headlines and since most people form opinions based on headlines, this is highly significant, a form of brainwashing people.

And here is the mouthpiece of our Constitutional Law expert President:  •2:16 PMCarney: Morsi ouster not a coup

Carney, who did not actually utter the word “coup” during his extended answer, added: “So, in answer to your question, I would say that we are going to take the time necessary to review what has taken place and to monitor efforts by Egyptian authorities to forge an inclusive and democratic way forward.

And as we do, we will review our requirements under the law, and we will do so consistent with our policy objectives. And we will also, of course, consult with Congress on that.”

Which is merely a round about way of saying the US will continue funding the mercenary military forces which occupy Egypt so long as devout Muslims are being killed.  McCain: Aid should be suspended:

“I have always said that democracy is about more than elections, and I have consistently urged the Egyptian military to serve as the guarantor of Egyptian democracy and the protector of the Egyptian nation. I understand that the military’s removal of Morsi from office was undertaken with broad public support in the name of democracy and could ultimately lead Egypt to a more inclusive and representative civilian government.

However, it is difficult for me to conclude that what happened was anything other than a coup in which the military played a decisive role. Current U.S. law is very clear about the implications for our foreign assistance in the aftermath of a military coup against an elected government, and the law offers no ability to waive its provisions. I do not want to suspend our critical assistance to Egypt, but I believe that is the right thing to do at this time.

‘They came at us with machine guns’ claim the Muslim Brotherhood.  The US winked at Saudis and Gulf sheiks mass murdering unarmed demonstrators this last year.  The frightful news that doctors who tended the wounded civilians were put on summary trial by these rich bastards and then EXECUTED for giving humanitarian aid was nearly totally ignored by our corrupt media.

The junta is kicking out not only al Jazeera but all other media:  NYT reporter ‘kicked out of Tahrir.  CNN was kicked out, too.  This is classic.  Every junta in South and Central America did the same.  Juntas happen fast.  There is some slight unrest and people protest IMF cuts to social programs and suddenly, bang!  The military attacks the government.  And in the first dozen hours, the masses celebrate an end to disorder and then the junta murders, tortures and imprisons all the socialists, radicals, former government officials, etc.  And simultaneously suppresses all demonstrations and makes things ten times harder for the poor and the working class.

The odious celebration of a repeat of this process in Egypt horrified me.  Left or right, juntas are wrong.  They are undemocratic, authoritarian, corrupt, wasteful and violent.  They usually start wars, too.  Who can forget the Argentinian junta generals who decided to fight England over the Falkland Islands, for example?
